Welcome to this edition of Whatever Wednesday! As I was doing some reading and deciding on what to write about today, I came across an issue of my VegNews Magazine Newsletter and came across some extraordinary information!

On Tuesday, April 6, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted in favor of a resolution observing Mondays as Vegetarian Day, encouraging local restaurants, grocery stores and schools to offer a wider variety of meat-free options!

San Francisco is the first city in the US to officially pass a motion to promote a plant based diet and reduce meat consumption one day a week. Vegetarian City Supervisor Sophie Maxwell, presented the resolution on behalf of local activists, and the board voted unanimously to pass it.

It is also so ironic that I had no idea about this when I designated Monday's blog posts as "Move Over Meat Mondays!"

Now, I dare you to take initiative and implement your own meat free day! Let me know when you do!

  1. This is a helpful website - thanks!

  2. Thank you so much! I am so glad you stopped by and hope you continue reading!

  3. I want to pick a day of the week to be meat free. I was just about to say that I am torn about which day to pick because I really want to stick to it. But I think I just decided on Monday to be that day. That way I can start off the week on the right foot. Cheers to healthy living and less livestock!
