PHYSICAL FITNESS FRIDAYS- CARDIO KICKBOXING
Happy Physical Fitness Friday everybody!
Today's exercise of choice is Cardio Kickboxing. This type of aeorbic activity is offered at gyms across the country. Let's take a closer look at this type of exercise.
This type of workout utilizes moves from the Thai sport of kickboxing. An instructor leads the class through a variety of punches and kicks to music. Moves are worked into combinations like jabs, cross punches, hooks, upper cuts and front kicks.
If the punches are executed with precision and power, you'll strengthen your upper body and eventually see more muscle definition. The kicks strengthen your legs, especially the hamstrings. The kneeing move (a move in which you thrust your bent knee upward) will help firm your abdominal muscles. If all of the moves are done correctly, it will turn your torso into a solid base.
Your cardiovascular system will benefit as well, many instructors offer a truly aerobic workout, keeping you bobbing, weaving, and jumping amidst the punches and kicks. An hour of cardio kickboxing can burn an average of 500 calories, according to FitnessMagazine.com.
This total-body workout can improve strength, aerobic fitness, flexibility, coordination, and balance.
Cardio kickboxing is a great cardiovascular alternative to try. So, next time you are at the gym and a class is offered, skip the treadmill and get your kicks on instead!
