Hey folks,

Welcome to this edition of Talk To Me Tuesdays!

Here is the question of the day: "I have a huge sweet tooth, but I'm trying to be more healthy these days. What kind of sweets can I eat as a vegan that I can buy already prepared?"

Well the absolute best sweet and healthy snack you can have is fruit. I know you and some others may roll your eyes at this one, but it's true. I also have a notorious sweet tooth and have learned to tame it some by eating fruit. It's okay to indulge in the more decadent treats once in a while, but if you're trying to do the best by your body, fruit is the way to go to quench that sweet spot.

Another product you may want to try is Larabars. They are sold with the other meal replacement bars in most stores. They have different flavors and the greatest thing about them is they have only a few ingredients. I have the Lemon flavored one with me today and it contains; dates, cashews, almonds, lemon juice concentrate and natural lemon flavor. Larabars are gluten free, soy free, non-gmo,vegan and kosher. This particular flavor has more ingredients than most of the other flavors they offer. I find them satisfying and a great on-the-go snack! There are more options out there, you just have to take the time at the store to read labels!

One other thing I do sometimes is make my own version of raisinettes (sp?). You can buy some vegan semi-sweet chocolate chips (find these at Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and other health food stores; read labels at conventional stores) and raisins and mix them together in a baggie to eat on the go or at home as a snack!

You can also try dried fruit or granola. I find it best to purchase these items in bulk and make sure they don't contain added sugar for the best health benefit.

I hope these ideas help and get you going in the right direction! There are so many more out there. Be sure to visit my favorite go-to spot- and you're sure to find some other sweet and healthy snacks to try!

  1. Hey,

This is what my whole blog is about. I often indulge in decadent dessert, but I try to limit that to a once a week thing. I agree that fruit is the best option for daily and multiple daily snacks. I love grapes, frozen grapes, strawberries, apples, mangos, even lemons. I also really like to cookies by Alternative Baking Company and muffins by Chicago Diner. They also sell vegan ice cream in most grocery stores I have visited. Great post.
