Happy Wednesday everyone!

I hope you all made it over the hump successfully!  Today, I decided to focus the attention on sprouts.  They can be such a great addition to a veggie sandwich or salad and upon doing some research I was surprised to learn they pack quite a nutritional punch as well!  Let's take a closer look shall we!

In addition to being a great source of nutrients, studies show they also have important curative ability. They contain concentrated amounts of phytochemicals (plant compounds) that can protect us against disease.

Canavanine, an amino acid analog in alfalfa, has shown benefits for pancreatic, colon and leukemia cancers. Also abundant in sprouts are plant estrongens which increase bone formation and density, helping to prevent bone breakdown or osteoporosis. Additionally they are helpful in controlling hot flashes, menopause, PMS and fibrocystic breasts tumors.

They are rich in vitamins and proteins and more easily digested by the body. It is also the only plant which supplies the full range of vitamins, from vitamin A, B complex (even B12), C, E to K.

See..I told you..amazing.  You can also visit http://www.isga-sprouts.org/nutritio.htm to get more lowdown on Alfalfa sprouts and a myriad of others and their benefits as well!
