One fruit I really enjoy is cherries! I thought we should take a closer look at them today and find more reasons to love them!  Cherries are fat and saturated fat free, sodium free, good source of vitamin C and potassium and cholesterol free.  Emerging evidence links cherries to health benefits such as a reduction in risk factors for heart disease. A growing study of science links the red color of cherries (provided by the fruit’s powerful antioxidants) to heart-health benefits related to reducing inflammation, total cholesterol, and belly fat.  Experts suggest 1-2 servings of cherries daily to help provide the benefits identified by the research.

When picking cherries, select firm ones with stems attached. Avoid cherries that are shriveled, soft or blemished.  You can store them in the refrigerator for up to 10 days. 

So, pick some cherries and eat them plain, chocolate covered, in a pie or dried in some trail mix.  There are many possibilities and apparently many benefits as well!
