Hey folks!

Well, here we are on Thanksgiving Eve if you will!  VegNews just delivered a great recipe in my inbox from Bryanna Clark Grogan for some homemade cranberry sauce for those of you out there still pulling together your menu!  I LOVE cranberry sauce, so this is a must for me!  I will admit however, that I am a sucker for the old standby of the jellied variety in the  However, if you want to kick it homemade style, you might want to give this one a whirl!


1 12-ounce package fresh cranberries, trimmed
1 cup cranberry juice cocktail, or a cranberry and juice mix (like cran-apple)
1/2 cup sugar

In a large saucepan, combine cranberries, juice, and sugar, and bring to a boil. Turn heat to medium and cook about 10 minutes, or until all cranberries have popped open. Skim off any foam.

Cool and place in a serving dish. Cover and refrigerate until serving. You can substitute 1 cup maple syrup for sugar or add 1/2 teaspoon maple flavoring.
