My Sister's Vegan Journey Part III
I am very pleased to share another installment of my sister Marcea's vegan journey! If you missed the first two entries, you can check them out here and here!
Marcea is still transtitioning and coming along quite well I'm very pleased to say! Check out how she's doing in her own words below:
It's been many months since I decided to adopt a plant-based diet. I am cheese and occasional ice cream away from being a vegan. I don't miss meat anymore, and as a matter of fact I have come across options I never knew we're possible. I discovered (mock) meat crumbles to put in chili, tacos, and spaghetti, and I came across veggie hot dogs that taste like the real thing! The truth of the matter is that our taste buds are accustomed to what meat tastes like, that we can't fathom anything else. Believe me these aren't that much of an acquired taste, as I tore up the tacos I made and didn't think twice about it.
Surprisingly, my husband LOVES the veggie burgers we came across, though I can't remember the brand, which is very important. I am eating more veggies than I ever have and I even cut down on soda. I look at meat now and wonder why I ever craved things like cramming down on a pig's thigh or clucking at a chicken's breast. Even chicken wings leave me flying in the other direction. I am glad I made this choice for me. I know I have some ways to go, but I actually took toddler steps instead of baby ones, so I'm quite proud of myself. I will post another update soon, but I must leave on this note....while I would have probably done this anyway, Christa still gets a shake from me for ruining it for me with milk and eggs. She knows what I'm talking about. Lol!
Thanks again Marcea for keeping us updated with your progress! I am so very proud of you!
