Hope this short week has been good to ya! Just wanted to share what I've been snacking on lately! As I mentioned previously, I'm monitoring very closely my processed food intake as of late, so I've been on the lookout for some snacks with ingredients that I can pronounce and feel good about putting into my body.
I've never been a big fan of nuts (the kind you eat or people for that matter) ;-), but I can usually tolerate them in trail mixes because usually there are some raisins are other dried fruit to help balance out the flavor for me. Well, enter the problem I encountered at EVERY store I went into- all of the packaged trail mixes had added oil and sugar! Ugh! Even the bulk section was no refuge as I found the same issue with the mixes there. Well, I was not going to be defeated in my quest! I ended up buying each item I wanted in my trail mix separately and then went home and mixed it up myself!
As they say, if you can't beat 'em, find another way to beat 'em! Okay, there is no "they" that says that, I just made that up! LOL! Basically, don't settle for less than the best and if that means you have to go the extra mile to get what you want, then do it! I was able to find some raisins and dried cherries without anything added and mixed that up with raw cashews, raw almond pieces and raw sunflower seeds and I LOVE it! I actually look forward to this daily snack! Stay tuned to hear about another raw snack that I found that I've been lovin' on as well!
