Meat My Meals: A Simple Cure for a Sweet Tooth!
Happy Monday folks!
I have always had a pretty notorious sweet tooth. I will take a cupcake over potato chips on any day. In any event, things have seemed to take a little bit of a turn these days. It seems that after my competition my cravings have shifted a bit.
Now, don't get me wrong, I still appreciate a delectable treat every now and then for sure, but definitely not like it was before. On Friday after work, the only thing I had a craving for was a bowl of strawberries and bananas topped with some non-diary whipped topping. So, I went on over to gather these items to satisfy my sweet tooth but unfortunately, I wasn't able to purchase the non-dairy whipped topping.
Ever since I have learned more about the additive Carrageenan, a thickener and emulsifier used in non-diary milks and ice creams and why we should keep it out of our diets, I personally have been steering clear of consuming any product that uses this as an ingredient based on the information I found. I talked a little about this here when I posted about my first foray into making homemade almond milk. Well, needless to say, I didn't purchase the non-dairy whipped topping because it contained Carrageenan.
However, I really still had a taste for something extra to go along with my bananas and berries so I opted to get soy yogurt to use instead! I went with lemon although, I think plain would have worked better. I still enjoyed my little evening treat nonetheless and would definitely throw this together for dessert again!
